So I found last years resolutions!!!! Here they are (and how I did):
1. Purchase prepared food less. I will limit eating out to twice a month. I will bring food for lunch and will not purchase tea and muffins from the coffee stand.
Yeah, not so much. I did better… But not great. I did bring lunches to work more often (now I bring them every day) and I always make my own breakfasts now. We purchase prepared food probably on average once per week. Better than it was, but I can improve on this one still.
2. Once per month, give some possessions away. One box will be donated per month until I rid myself of clutter weighing me down.
So I moved and gave away a LOT of stuff. I honesty feel like I don’t have clutter anymore. I also joined freecycle and have given stuff away through that.
3 . Incorporate love and open-mindedness into my life more. Be less cynical. Let go of painful memories, grievances and pre-conceived notions so I can truly be free.
I did not follow the S.M.A.R.T methodology when writing this goal. I can’t really measure it. I have made efforts to be friendlier and more open minded. I think it worked.
4. Consume less. Less gas, less junk food, less new things. I will buy used when possible, carpool when I can, and lay off the cookies. Also, I will once again donate my birthday to charity. I don’t need stuff: people need basic necessities and I can help with that.
When my old car died I bought a more fuel efficient one. I didn’t really buy a lot of used things this year (I didn’t really buy a lot of things at all this year), and I now eat meat only about twice per week in an effort to reduce my carbon footprint. I eat local when I can, and love supporting local businesses. I did not donate my birthday to charity. I did, however, donate a lot of stuff and money to charity. I also changed careers so that I would be helping people every day with my work. It continues to be extremely rewarding and one of the best things I have ever done.
